Data & privacy
This page explains, in plain terms, what Clarity Photo does with the images you upload. It is an operational disclosure for the current beta, not a substitute for a formal privacy policy, which should be added before public launch.
What we store
- Your account e-mail and a one-way (Argon2id) hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
- A cleaned copy of each uploaded image, a small thumbnail, the processed results, and technical details (dimensions, format, whether it has transparency). The file name you upload is shown in the interface only; files are stored under random names.
- Job history and a credit ledger (what was charged or refunded and when).
- Session records (a hash of the session token, IP address and browser user agent) and recent login attempts, for security.
Photo metadata
- When an image is accepted, its EXIF orientation is applied so the picture is upright. Then the original file is deleted and only a clean re-encoded copy is kept.
- EXIF data (camera, date, serial numbers), GPS location, XMP and comments are not copied into the stored copy or into any result.
- An embedded RGB colour profile (ICC) is kept so colours look the same. It contains no personal information.
Retention
- Uploaded images and processed results are deleted automatically 24 hours after upload or completion.
- You can delete any job or upload yourself at any time from the studio. Files are removed from disk immediately, or as soon as a running job stops.
- Job history entries (without files) and the credit ledger are kept so that usage limits and accounting stay correct.
Access
- Files are never placed in a public directory. Every thumbnail, comparison image and download is checked against your signed-in account.
- The site is served over HTTPS only, with secure, HTTP-only session cookies.
- Processing happens on our own server and GPU. Your images are not sent to third-party AI services and are not used to train models.
Models
Enhancement uses the open-source Real-ESRGAN models (realesr-general-x4v3, realesr-general-wdn-x4v3, RealESRGAN_x4plus). AI upscaling synthesizes plausible detail. It can alter faces, text and textures, and it cannot recover detail that was never captured. Review results before relying on them.
